I normally can deal IHOP for what it is- reliable, decent breakfast food. But when the whole experience is as bad as it is here, I can't get even give it credit for that. We arrived before 10 on a Sunday (I know, this is never a good idea), and were told the wait for 2 was around 20 minutes. 40 very crowded minutes later, we were finally seated at a dirty table (it had been bussed but apparently never wiped down). Our server came by quickly and made really awkward conversation, including saying that she was surprised that no one had cried yet today... umm... ok? She asked immediately if she could take our food orders, because it is just "easier if you already know what you want." Again, awkward. I had the garden omelet with hash browns, my husband had the chicken fried steak. The food was ok but the hash browns and my husband's side of pancakes came out over 15 minutes after the rest of the food. I watched 2 other tables get their food, including hash browns and pancakes, before we got ours. When they came out, the hash browns were very fresh but the pancakes weren't. The butter wouldn't even melt all the way. Our server did keep tabs on us and kept us updated, saying repeatedly that our food was on the way. She apologized and made weird comments about how the kitchen was so crazy and she was trying. We ran out of coffee. My water never got refilled. Just not a fun experience. On the plus side, the bathrooms were clean!

Great Breakfast Options! I love that IHOP provides healthy breakfast options. I was very hungry and in the mood to try their country fried steak instead. It came with two eggs, hash browns, and pancakes. I had the eggs scrambled. The eggs, hash browns, and pancakes were great. The country-fried steak was ok but I've had a lot better. The service was great and the restaurant was clean. Other IHOP restaurants that I've dined in provide free WI-Fi. The Wi-Fi here required a password and we didn't ask for it so I don't know if they provide guest access.

I usually enjoy a decent breakfast at a local IHOP or Waffle House type diner from time to time while travelling or just a treat when home. The IHOP in La Plata is very odd. There was no one to seat anyone at the cashier desk area up front. In fact there were 2 other couples standing there waiting before I walked in. Since there is a sign requesting "Please wait to be seated" we waited. A waitress came over after about 5 minutes and grabbed a handful of menus and seated us all at the same time to various tables. It was clear that she was responsible for her own set of tables and was eager to return to them, so I wasn't asked if I wanted a beveridge before she split. Again after waiting another 5 or so minutes the waiter in my area came over and did ask for my drink preference. The issue I had he didn't come back with any coffee. I pulled out my phone paged a book and started reading since I didn't have anything else to do. I actually read about 30 pages before the waiter came back with some coffee. I quickly interjected my order to him before he had a chance to leave so I could have peace of mind at least the cook might be faster than my waiter. Well....the cook WAS faster but it was definiately not worth the wait. Everything was bland and tasteless except for my egg yolk. When I got my check I was again stymied by my attempt to leave, As most IHOPs you get your bill and check out and pay the cashier up front. Well, the cash registers are there but no one is there to use them. Another customer told me I had to pay from the table. So I go back to my table trying to get anyones attention without causing a scene. Another waiter ended up taking my check and payment so I could go about my day. I am pretty sure this IHOP sevice and dysfunction is a management issue. If management doesn't care it reflects in the employees which in turn gets dumped on the patrons. Bottom line the Strip Mall on Rosewick Road is a great place to shop but I don't think I'll ever stop at that particular IHOP again. Cheers

The food here is a tiny bit better than the service, which is not saying much. No idea why it seems to be so packed on wknds ... lack of other options I suppose

Slowest service EVER! It took nearly an hour to get an egg sandwich, fries and a pancake. Maybe only 12 people in the restaurant so no excuse for the long wait.

I usually love coming here, yet on 7/27/14 the experience was horrible! Before I could give Agnes my birthday coupon she informed me they no longer served rooty tooty fresh n fruity. I said really well why is it still listed on the menus? Then she says oh you only wanted pancakes, I thought you wanted the meal. I asked her for warm syrup she brought me a coffee mug filled with cold syrup. The service was extremely slow and she was not customer oriented at all. I completed the survey regarding my experience and to this date have yet to hear back from management. If they don't care anything about their customers experience, they never have to worry about me patronizing the establishment again.

I came here for brunch because I was really hungry and my companion really wanted some pancakes, I could've had something else, nonetheless, the breakfast is always good, although they were a bit skimpy on the steak this time and our waitress was a little busy, the place is always packed, so there is no surprise there. I wanted a coffee and although theirs is nothing like the type I like to drink I ordered a vanilla version they have, which was a huge mistake, it was a really really watered down version of sweet coffee with whipped cream (which I forgot to tell the waitress to skip), when the cream melted away you could see the oil in the coffee, I couldn't drink it so I ordered the regular coffee, this time the waitress forgot the regular cream (milk), but that's OK, my omelet was on the table and I just wanted to eat. I tell you why I keep coming back, cause it's the closest we have! And my husband loves their pancakes, they're ok for me. Anyway, I am glad we got the usual three pancakes this time (a few months ago we only got two). Their omelets are way better than what I make at home. And if someone is going to make a steak and eggs for the family, I'm all for it, the last think I want to do is get up in the morning to cook that kind of meal. So that's why IHOP is always crowded, although I have to admit at one time, they were great in every way - except the coffee. Service was better, the food was great and servings were bigger. Still you can tell them exactly what veggies you want in your omelet, which are usually very tasty. I can't believe the owners have not updated their profile on Yelp.

I mean, it's a generic chain, for what it's worth this experience was decent. My sister and I ate here around 7:30 am on a sunday so it wasn't packed. With that in mind service was nice and the food was okay. I don't eat eggs, or pork so i basically ate two pancakes, hash browns and turkey bacon. My sister ordered an omelet...she's 7 months preggars so she gobbled down here food with a smile.lol pet peeves, we sat at a booth and the seat was worn, the hostess had raccoon eye makeup, and i don't like the chicken and waffle marketing campaign b/c the chicken tenders they display make me angry. (chicken and waffles are suppose to be fresh not frozen processed tenders with egos....IDK they just don't look appealing to me. i'd eat there again.

I really enjoy coming here. The food is delicious and the service is fantastic. I come here often and usually take my time, treated like a well liked guest everytime while I sip coffee and read or talk to friends.

The fact that the food here is terrible is disturbing - the packed waiting area and long waits make it even more disturbing. My husband and I went here on a Sunday afternoon. I ordered the vegetarian omelette "for me" style, meaning it comes with fruit instead of hash browns. The omelette was almost entirely mushrooms with a few token chunks of pepper and onion. The waiter kept telling me that my fruit was "coming up" well after my omelette came. When the fruit finally came, it was all slimy honeydew melon. The waiter told me it was the last of the fruit. My husband ordered a burger with onion rings, and instead got cold fries. He asked for onion rings twice, at which point our waiter disappeared for 20 minutes while we finished up and waited for our check. An all around gross experience, we will never be back. Looks like they don't need our business anyway...

I can't comment on the food because we never ended up eating. It was crowded so we put our name in. 20 minutes for two people. We noticed not one , not two, not three but four 2 tops open but yet no one was being sat. After 15 minutes I asked why the two tops weren't being sat. The answer "were seating the big parties first." The impression that gives me is that we don't care about our smaller parties or their business. Waited 5 more minutes. Still none of the 2 tops were filled. They were is random places , not tables that could be pushed together so they couldn't even be given to larger parties. I approached the manager and told him the situation and what the hostess told us. He gave us a half hearted apology without making eye contact so we just walked out. Never will be returning.
